West Yorkshire Police has launched a new website section 'Policing West Yorkshire'. The section, with an introductory video by Temporary Chief Constable John Parkinson, is designed to help the public better understand what the Police do and how they do it.

Lepton Highlanders is a thriving sports centre in the village. It caters for both males and females of all ages who are still young in mind. Sports include football, cricket, darts & dominoes, which are run from the centre for both juniors and seniors.

Shelley Community Association, of which membership is open to every resident of the village, strives to achieve a high quality of life for everyone. It maintains the Shelley Village Hall, which is an excellent venue used by a large number of groups of all ages and interests throughout the village. The hall is fully accessible to the disabled and wheelchair users. Please find full details of the Association's events and meetings from their website. New members are always welcome.

An excellent venue run by Kirkburton & Highburton Community Association. The hall is in full use during the week by groups such as Playgroup, Out of School Club, Time Out, Over 60's, Parent & Toddlers, Brownies, to name but a few. It is also available to rent on a one-off basis for meetings or parties. The hall is fully accessible to the disabled and wheelchair users.

Lepton Community Link is village organisation made up of interested residents and deals with issues affecting Lepton. All residents are welcome to come to the meetings, which are held on the first Wednesday of alternate months in Lepton Methodist Church at 7.00 pm. Meeting dates and the minutes are always displayed in the village notice board, the Library and Green Hut Fisheries. They are also emailed to all organisations and residents who request them.

The East Peak Innovation Partnership was established in 2008 and links together three similar areas covering Penistone and District, North Sheffield and the parishes of Denby Dale and Kirkburton. The Partnership was established to deliver a community led approach to rural development.
