Calendar of Community Events

All community groups and 'not for profit' organisations throughout the Parish are welcome to submit information regarding their forthcoming events for publication below, free of charge.  We will also display any information notices. However, we cannot display notices of a commercial or political nature.

19 November at 6.00 pm : Friends of Kirkburton Library Annual General Meeting
Come along and find out what's been happening at Kirkburton Library. Volunteers are always welcome, but it can be at your convenience and doing something you enjoy. So why not think about getting more involved?

28 November at 7.30 pm : Kirkheaton Family History Talk: William Pontey, Kirkheaton Landscape Gardener at Kirkheaton Community Centre
Talk to be given by local historian, John Taylor. In the late eighteen century William Pontey managed his own local nurseries.  He also advised and worked for prominent estate owners throughout England.   He subsequently had books published which were based on observation and practical experience of gardening over 30 years. Entrance: £2.50 inc light refreshments.

30 November : Christmas Fair at Burton Village Hall
Come along and help the Community Association raise funds to support the village hall, and bag yourself a bargain at the same time.  There will be a good selection of stalls offering something different for you to gift to your family and friends, plus the opportunity to win a prize in the raffle, and there will of course be a visit from Santa himself.

4 December at 6.30 pm : Carols around the Grange Moor Christmas Tree. Music by Grange Moor Brass Band.  All welcome.  No charge.
Please note that the tree will be installed outside St Bartholomew's Church this year, as it is no longer possible to put it on the recreation ground.

5 December : 10 - 12.30 : Adult Christmas Crafts at Kirkburton Library

9 - 12 December : Santa's Sleigh comes to Kirkburton and Highburton

14 December : 10 - 12 noon : Christmas Raffle Draw and HD8 Angels Children's Choir at Kirkburton Library


15 December : Grange Moor Brass Band Christmas Concert at St Bartholomew's Church at 2pm
Tickets now available from Val Hope Tel: 01924 849508. Prices: Adults £7; Concessions £5.  There is a limited number of places available due to the size of the church, so please buy your ticket soon to avoid disappointment.

19 December: Kirkheaton History Group Annual General Meeting : 6.30 pm at Kirkheaton Community Centre
This is an open meeting and everyone is welcome to attend.
