Kirkheaton Ward


The vacancy in the Kirkheaton ward will be filled by co-option at the Parish Council meeting on 4 November 2021.  To be eligible for co-option, applicants must fulfill at least one of the criteria below for the whole of the last 12 months:

1) Be a registered local government elector for the parish;

2) Have occupied as owner or tenant, land or other premises in the parish;

3) Have resided in the parish or within 4.8 km of the boundary;

4) Whose principal or only place of work is in the parish.

The vacancy will be filled strictly in accordance with the rules set out in the Council’s Standing Orders:  In order to be considered, interested parties must write to the Clerk confirming their eligibility to sit on the Parish Council, including a short statement explaining the reasons s/he wants to become a Parish Councillor. 

It is important to note that ANY canvassing of Councillors, directly or indirectly, for this vacancy is strictly forbidden.  Failure to follow the rules shall automatically disqualify the candidate for the appointment.
